Compromise Agreements replaced by Settlement Agreements on 29th July 2013

Settlement Agreements are legally binding contracts which allow an individual’s employment to end on terms agreed between the employer and employee.  By signing a Settlement Agreement, the employee waives his right to make bring a claim in either a Court or Employment Tribunal.  Because he is waiving his rights, the employee is required to receive independent legal advice before signing the agreement to ensure that he fully understands the position.
